The Jazzy Select Traveller Wheelchair

I tried out the Jazzy Select Traveler wheelchair a couple of weeks ago and I really liked this model. For maneuverability and efficiency in this tightly designed and compact motorized wheelchair, it gives a good ride.

The Jazzy Select Traveler chair is produced by the Pride Mobility Products Corporation. It comes with a powerful PG CG programmable controller, enhanced battery size for greater distances and in-line motors. The standard electronics system of the Jazzy Select Traveler is 40 amp, PG GC controller. It’s a good value for the dollar.

As far as the battery goes for distance and speed, factors will determine its performance, like all other batteries with all other motorized wheelchairs, the tire pressure, the roughness or smoothness of the terrain, the weight of the person and the battery condition all affect its performance. Of course, you have to take care of your battery and recharge it correctly, or it is not going to perform well. For the specifics on this wheelchair battery, it comes with two U-1, off board, 5 amp, 12 volt, deep cycle batteries which result in greater per charge range – Each battery charge can reach a total of up to 15 miles per charge. The batteries weigh 24.5 pounds each. The maximum speed you can travel is is up to 3.5 miles per hour.

This wheelchair is available in blue or red, if you are picky about the colors. It can carry a person weighing up to 300 pounds. The seat measures 18 inches wide by 16 inches in length. The Jazzy Select Traveler is 27.75” in total length and 21.5” in width. Ground clearance is 1.75”. The turning radius is 22.75”. It comes with an intelligent, electronic braking system consisting of regenerative disc brakes.

What type of wheels does this motorized wheelchair come with? The front casters are 5” solid and the rear anti-tips are 3 inches solid.

The warranty on the Jazzy Select is a 5 year limited warranty on the frame; a one year limited warranty on the electronics and 1 one year limited warranty on the drive motors. For compatible lifts, check out the Pride Mobility Silver Star lifts and ramps – the Backpacker Plus and the SilverBoom 300.

You can expect great performance from the Jazzy Select Traveller motorized wheelchair just because of the programmable controller and the enhanced battery size. If you are looking for high performance and maneuverability, this one is a great power chair to check out.

The Life of an Active Wheelchair User

Just because one finds themselves in the predicament of a disability, life must go on.  The person that finds themselves here has to admit that life goes on, it does not stop here.  Yes, life has changed as it always does, but we must adapt.  Owning a motorized wheelchair makes this change easier to handle and enables the user to continue one`s job, school, taking care of children.  Life goes on and we must participate in it.

By choosing an electric motorized wheelchair or “power”  chair, you can easily adapt to this change in your life.  Motorized wheel chairs have increased performance, extended battery range, enabling you to continue to work, go to school and pursue many activities outside of your home.  Extended battery life allows longer session use which prevents one from becoming stranded – a not so nice propostion.  Motorized wheel chairs have higher speeds which enables you to cross streets at a speed of 6.5 mph rather than 5 mph.  This makes all the difference when you could be exposed to moving traffic.  You life is safer.

Longer mile range of 16 or more miles compared to a light duty wheel chair which only offers a 12 mile range enables you to meet your lifestyle, work and school activities.  A three inch obstacle climb is provided in a power wheel chair which enables you to traverse uneven terrain out of doors.  A nine degree stability incline ensures your safety over outdoor terrain.  You will find that the motorized wheel chair will be designed with the durability you will need to continue your life as much as you must.

Power wheel chair brands such as Jazzy and Quantum make models of wheel chairs you can ask to look over.  I will be reviewing some of these models in a later posting.  But a few that come to mind when considering a motorized wheel chair include the Quantum 6000Z, the Quantum R-4000, the Jazzy Select 14, the Jazzy 600 and the 600XL and the Jazzy Select Traveller.  These are some of the best motorized wheel chairs on the market today.

Do not think that just because you have a disability that this will keep you from living a very rewarding life.  Life goes on as it should and you can remain just as active as you were before with an electric motorized wheel chair helping you in your life.
